I was listening to a Law of Attraction Radio Network show the other day while traveling on a commuter train. The tracks were clacking underneath as I sat with ear pods protruding that were connected to my Ipod.
The host Bertrand Dory came on and started talking about a quote that went, “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
Bells went off in my head as the words registered as the kind of thing you want to write down quickly so you can paste it to your bathroom mirror to look at daily.
When I got home, I hopped onto the Internet to search for this quote and came upon a 3-1/2 minute video clip from Dr. Wayne Dyer that’s posted on Youtube. He started off by talking about this expression but then related it to something Einstein said that went, “The most fundamental and major decision that you have to make in your life is ‘do I live in a friendly or hostile universe?’ Because if you see the world as hostile and angry, with people wanting to hate and kill each other, then that’s exactly what you will create in your life.”
I agree with Einstein. I have mostly looked at life as being a “hard and hurtful place,” and have suffered a lot of pain — abuse as a child, divorce, hostile work environments, weight issues, lost loved ones, and just plain old tragedy. Then on top of this, you add the negativity of what’s around you like TV news programs that exploit war, politics, and disasters. No wonder people are depressed!
If I were to come up with LIFE INSTRUCTION NO. 1, it would say “Look at life as a friendly universe.” Refuse to watch or listen to negative TV programs or negative people in your life and seek out inspiring mentors, books, and CDs. Forgive and forget all the past wrongs that have been done to you. And finally, reprogram the way you look at things to be more positive so the things you look at will change.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
